Heal Together with G-TEP Group Therapy.
The Group Traumatic Episode Protocol (G-TEP) is an advanced, evidence-based group therapy designed to help individuals process and heal from traumatic events. As an extension of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy, G-TEP harnesses the power of group dynamics to enhance individual healing. This protocol is specifically tailored to address recent or past traumatic experiences in a supportive, structured group environment.
Discover the Power of Collective Healing.
How Does G-TEP Work?
G-TEP sessions at Skaneateles Psychotherapy involve a series of structured, guided activities that help participants safely and effectively process traumatic memories. Each session follows a carefully designed protocol that includes:
Stabilization: Techniques to help participants feel safe and grounded.
Processing: Structured activities to process and reframe traumatic memories.
Integration: Strategies to integrate the healing experiences into daily life.
Using bilateral stimulation (similar to EMDR), G-TEP helps to desensitize and reprocess traumatic memories, reducing their emotional charge and promoting healthier coping mechanisms.
Benefits of G-TEP Group Therapy
Supportive Environment: Benefit from the shared experience of healing in a group, fostering a sense of community and mutual support.
Enhanced Healing: The group setting can amplify the therapeutic effects of EMDR, leading to faster and more profound healing.
Cost-Effective: Group therapy often provides a more affordable option compared to individual sessions while maintaining high therapeutic value.
Skill Development: Learn valuable coping skills and techniques that can be applied in everyday life.
Who Can Benefit from G-TEP?
G-TEP is ideal for individuals who have experienced traumatic events, whether recent or historical, and are seeking a structured, supportive environment for healing. It is particularly beneficial for:
First responders and law enforcement personnel
Professionals and high achievers under significant stress
College students facing transitional challenges
Individuals undergoing life transitions or experiencing chronic stress

Mindfulness for Adolescents (Ages 13-18): Still Quiet Place
In today's fast-paced, technology-driven world, teenagers face unprecedented levels of stress. Balancing schoolwork, friendships, sports, and other activities is challenging enough. On top of this, teens often deal with intense parental expectations, pressure to excel academically and athletically, and the constant influx of messages from phones, social media, and advertising. It's no surprise that rates of teenage depression and anxiety are rising. Sometimes, you just need a space to relax and be yourself.
Our 10-week "Mindfulness for Teenagers" group program is designed to help teens find that space—a place of inner peace and strength. Participants will learn fun and easy mindfulness techniques to balance emotions, improve focus, and live happier, more fulfilling lives. The program offers constructive strategies for managing stress and practicing self-kindness and compassion towards others.
Being a teenager is tough, with pressures from school, friends, family, activities, and dating. This group provides the tools to find a quiet place within, a refuge to return to whenever life feels overwhelming. Join us and discover the power and peace that mindfulness can bring.

Women's Midlife Transitions Group Therapy: Embracing Mindful Aging
As women approach midlife, they often encounter new life themes and shifts that bring both challenges and opportunities. The familiar maps used in earlier stages—navigating relationships with parents, partners, children, employers, and others—may no longer seem relevant or helpful. This stage of life can prompt an identity crisis, similar to the self-discovery experienced during adolescence. Midlife becomes a time for re-discovery, fresh discovery, and reinvention.
Navigating these transitions alone can be daunting, filled with fear of the unknown, making mistakes, or deviating from others' expectations. This group offers a supportive environment where women can explore these changes together, transforming fear into productive excitement and generative energy. My mission is to help women navigate this new territory using a variety of approaches including coaching, EMDR, bibliotherapy, and psychotherapy. Together, we will explore and create paths in areas of known and newly discovered interests such as careers, family, sexuality, health, and well-being.
Issues We Address in the Women's Group:
Adjusting to or considering retirement
Coping with divorce and its aftermath
Dealing with persistent sadness or depression
Handling loss and grief
Managing anxiety, worry, or panic
Resolving painful memories or traumatic experiences
Facing difficult decisions, stress, or upsetting situations
Coping with chronic or acute medical conditions, such as Multiple Sclerosis, Traumatic Brain Injury, Cancer, Diabetes
Adjusting to disability
Navigating career changes or considering the next chapter in your life
Join our Women's Midlife Transitions Group to find a supportive community and the guidance you need to navigate this transformative stage. Together, we will discover new paths and create fulfilling and meaningful lives.
